The Bantam girls played some inspired hockey this weekend which culminated with them winning the Championship in the Ancaster Fall Shootout. In a very competitive round robin, the Falcons tied both Avalanche teams and then went 1-1 in the following shootouts (shootouts follow all tie games). Wins over the Ottawa Ice (winning goal by captain Miranda DiSalvo in the final minutes) and the Stoney Creek Sabres gave the Falcons the 2nd best record after the round robin, advancing them to the final. Goalies Beth Van Zanden & Adrianna Violi were outstanding.

In the final, the Falcons had a rematch with the Avalanche in a very tight and exciting game.  With both goalies making some fantastic saves, it seemed like whomever scored first would win the game. After both teams took penalties 30 seconds apart, the Falcons were finally able to score when a shot by Samara Carmody found the top corner.  The Avalanche pushed hard to the end but the Falcons were able stem the tide to earn the victory.

It was a true team effort with each and every player contributing. Congratulations to all the players and coaches!!
