2023/24 Registration

Registration for the 2023/2024 Season is open!

Girls hockey has been growing at a phenomenal rate, and we expect to have full divisions at all levels this year. In order to help ensure that there are sufficient players to ice a team, our registration system applies limits on positions.  This is designed to help ensure that once a player is fully registered there will be a spot for her on a team.  Roster sizes are limited within the rules from the OWHA, and this means that we try to ensure no "orphan" players are registered.  This means that once all spots have been filled in a particular division, the system will start a waitlist.  The FGHA will monitor registration levels and open up additional spaces as soon as we are confident that participation levels can support more teams.

In order to retain priority sequence, please register for a waitlist spot in the appropriate division and you will be contacted as space opens up.   There is no charge to be on the waitlist.  If there are questions about a waitlist, please contact our Registrar for more information.

U7 (FUNdamentals) Updated Structure:

The FGHA is excited to offer an updated and enhanced U7 (FUNdamentals) program for 2023-24.  We recognize that some players want more ice time and more training while others aren't quite sure if they'll fall in love with hockey as they get started.  We've tried to address both of those situations with the structure for next season.

What's changing:

  • We will offer 2 streams for the U7 age group - the weekly (once a week on Saturdays) and for those who want more, the TWICE weekly (twice a week, Saturdays and 1 weeknight evening).  This will allow families to choose how much hockey they sign up for.
  • In addition, we will be breaking the season into 2 sessions for further control for our families!  Session 1 will run from October 7th - December 23rd and the second session will run from January 6th to March 2nd.  This means that a family has the flexibility to sign up for session 1, once a week and then for session 2, select the twice weekly option or vice versa.

What's returning:

  • Structured and professional training lead by Celina Clark
  • High touch support from dedicated volunteer Falcon players

Fee Structure:

As we have in prior years, we will offer discounted early bird registration pricing for House League skaters for those those players registered prior to July 29, 2023.   Registrations for House League skaters will transition to the regular price effective July 30, 2023.

We cannot offer discounted early bird pricing for U7 (FUNdamentals) as those prices are already discounted.

NEW: U11-U22 House Leage Goalies will be priced at $275 for the season, with the following qualifications.  Player must register as a dedicated goalie and play that position for the season.  The player also must have their own equipment.

Players playing competitive (Rep) are required to pay the $275 Association Fee on registration.  All other costs incurred will be charged and collected through the team budget.

Fees for the 2023-24 Season are due in two installments:

  • The Association Fee ($275) is due on registration.  This fee covers fixed operation costs, including insurance.

  • U7 FUNdamentals fees are due on registration.

  • The balance of the fees for the season are due on August 31, 2023.

  • The FGHA refund policy is detailed below.

**For House League and U7 players, if you are not a Hamilton Resident (Import), please contact the FGHA Registrar before going through the online registration process.  The Registrar's email is registrar@fgha.ca.

Teammate/Friend Requests:

The FGHA recognizes that hockey is a community sport, and we will do our best to support requests when possible.   Please note, you can request only ONE teammate/friend and all requests must be made at the time of registration and must be reciprocated. We do not entertain requests for coaches.

NOTE: Teammate/friend requests are not guaranteed.

Please know that each request will be carefully considered as we begin to form the teams but the priority will be on creating balanced teams.

New Questions During Registration Process:

FYI - the OWHA has added some additional questions to the registration process that are visibility to them only.  These are to help promote and focus on inclusion in sport - and answers are visible only to them.  Included in these are self declaration questions around ethnicity and identification as part of an Indigenous Group.

Questions?

If you have questions about the structure of play or the organization, please reach out to our House League Director or our Rep Director.
