Hockey season is coming! Hockey School starts on September 7th and evaluation skates are being held Sunday September 22nd. The schedule is available HERE.
Please continue to watch the website for updates and announcements. We currently working with the city to finalize our ice plan for the start of the season, and once complete, we'll share the dates and times for hockey school as well as the equipment swap, evaluation skates and our AGM.
Registration continues to be very strong, and that has resulted in the creation of a wait list in a couple of categories already. If you'd like to inquire about wait list status, please reach out to our registrar Kelly Sullivan (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We are still looking for skaters in these divisions, so please click here to register for the season.
There are still coaches needed for House League this coming season.
We need coaches in IP, Novice, Atom and Peewee divisions.
If you have a passion for hockey and want to give back and help to guide our Falcons through the season to help learn and grow through hockey, now is your chance!
Applicant screening will follow the OWHA Screening Policy.
If you're interested, but don't have the necessary coaching certifications, don't worry! The FGHA will reimburse the cost of the coach certifications and trainer certifications. If you have any questions, please reach out to either Pete Fletcher or Jason Bonneville directly.
The FGHA is proud to offer our September hockey school to all house league players. This is a great way for our girls to knock the rust off after a great summer away from the rink.
For only $140, skaters will receive 8 hours of on-ice instruction by Jana Harrigan of Harrigan Hockey Inc. Jana attended Ohio State University on a hockey scholarship and is the second all-time scorer there with 160 points. Jana was a Team Canada selection camp attendee and is a Certified Instructor from the Hockey Canada Skills Academy.
Jana has been running the FGHA Hockey School for 9 years and tailors the hockey school for all abilities from beginner to advanced skaters.
For our younger and first time skaters, we have additional on-ice help through older Falcons who assist those that need a little more instruction and encouragement.
Our experience is that newer Falcons, react very well to the guidance provided by Jana and our older Falcons who are seen as role models. For the more experienced skater, Jana is also able to challenge them through the drills and encouragement providing a tailored approach to all abilities. The sessions will include instruction on skating, passing, shooting and of course having fun on the ice for all ages and skill levels.
Registration for hockey school is accessed through the same site where you register for the season, click here to register now!
The Hockey School schedule is posted on our website, and you can find it HERE!

Rowan’s Law was named for Rowan Stringer, a high school rugby player from Ottawa, who died in the spring of 2013 from a condition known as second impact syndrome (swelling of the brain caused by a subsequent injury that occurred before a previous injury healed). Rowan is believed to have experienced three concussions over six days while playing rugby. She had a concussion but didn’t know her brain needed time to heal. Neither did her parents, teachers or coaches.
Rowan’s Law and Rowan’s Law Day were established to honour her memory and bring awareness to concussions and concussion safety.
OWHA is bound by the Rowan’s Law concussion awareness rules. "Reducing the risk of concussions is always the goal. But concussions happen and knowing what to do - whether you're an athlete, a parent, a coach or a teacher - saves lives."
Effective immediately, all OWHA players, as well as their parents/guardians (for players under 18), coaches, trainers and other rostered individuals MUST review the OWHA Concussion Awareness Resource annually. Click here to access the Rowan's Law Document. The content of this document MUST be read by parents and players before a player will be eligible to play any games. Additionally, all required individuals must have signed and returned the Acknowledgement Form before they can play in a game.
Completed forms should be handed to your team's coach for collection and recording. Once all required forms are gathered, they should be provided to the appropriate Director (House League or Rep) for retention by the FGHA.
